Network Media Converter Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/LC-960
The Allied Telesis AT-MMC2000/LC-960 is a compact Gigabit Ethernet to fiber mini media and rate converter that supports 10/100/1000T to 1000SX conversion. Designed for multi-mode fiber with an LC connector, it provides up to 2000 m maximum transfer distance and operates with a 12 V input and typical power consumption of 1.7 W. The unit includes LED indicators for activity and link status and is compatible with the MMCR18 rack-mount chassis.
The AT-MMC2000/LC-960 combines full Gigabit Ethernet support with a small footprint, enabling deployment where space is limited while consuming low power. It supports VLAN-compliant long packets (IEEE 802.1Q), includes Smart MissingLink monitoring and Smart Link Restoration for automatic recovery after link interruptions, and offers a fast link test feature to help isolate port or cable faults. The converter’s LC multimode fiber interface and RJ-45 copper port provide straightforward integration into existing copper and fiber segments.
Install the AT-MMC2000/LC-960 as a standalone unit or in the MMCR18 chassis. Connect the RJ-45 copper cable to the 10/100/1000Base-T port and the multimode LC fiber to the 1000Base-SX port. Apply the 12 V power supply and verify LED indicators for link and activity to confirm proper connection. Use the link test function from the unit to diagnose port-to-end-node connectivity if needed.
Place the media converter in a ventilated location with minimal dust and ensure fiber connectors are clean before connection. For rack installations, use the MMCR18 chassis to centralize power and simplify cable management. When integrating with VLAN-capable switches, confirm IEEE 802.1Q compatibility to avoid packet discard on long VLAN-tagged frames.
