SFP module ALLNET ALL4790 2.5G Multimode LC
ALLNET ALL4790 is an SFP transceiver module that provides 2.5 Gbit/s data transfer over multimode fiber using an LC connector. Designed for installation in SFP-compatible network equipment, the module enables short-range, high-speed links between switches, servers and other optical network devices. The compact SFP form factor allows straightforward insertion into SFP slots on switches, routers and media converters to add 2.5G multimode fiber capability where required.
The module supports 2.5 Gbit/s throughput on multimode fiber for incremental bandwidth upgrades without replacing existing fiber infrastructure. Its LC duplex interface and SFP form factor ensure broad compatibility with standard enterprise and data center hardware. The transceiver is intended for short-range links, offering a cost-effective solution for upgrading access and aggregation segments to 2.5G performance while maintaining straightforward hot-pluggable installation.
Insert the SFP module into an available SFP slot on compatible network equipment until it latches securely. Connect LC duplex multimode fiber patch cords to the module’s LC ports, ensuring correct TX/RX orientation. Configure the connected device’s interface settings to operate at 2.5 Gbit/s if manual configuration is required; otherwise, allow auto-negotiation if supported. Monitor link status via the host device to confirm a stable optical connection.
Use appropriate multimode fiber types and certified LC patch cords for the intended short-range distance to ensure signal integrity. Avoid bending fibers beyond recommended radius, keep connectors clean and store modules with protective caps when not in use. Verify SFP compatibility with the host equipment and update device firmware if needed to ensure proper recognition and operation at 2.5 Gbit/s.
