Freestanding rack APC NetShelter SX 18U
The APC NetShelter SX 18U freestanding rack (MPN AR3106, EAN 0731304347699) is a 19" black enclosure designed to store and protect IT and networking equipment. It supports up to 18U of rack-mount space, a maximum static/dynamic load rating aligned with the product family, and has an IP20 rating for protection against solid objects. The enclosure includes integrated eyebolts for lifting, removable roof with cable access, perforated front and rear doors, grounding points, adjustable mounting rails and pre-installed accessory channels for flexible equipment and cable management.
This NetShelter SX rack simplifies selection by providing complete enclosures under a single part number and ships with mounting hardware and basic adjustment tools. The roof offers easily removable pull-pin hinges and reversible orientation to reposition larger cable openings. Cable access openings include pre-installed brush strips for data cable passthrough and provisions for air containment. Perforated curved-profile doors and half-height quick-release side panels improve ventilation and handling. Integrated grounding, heavy-gauge mounting rails and robust frame design contribute to structural stability. Rails include zero-U holes for DDC patching without consuming critical U-space.
Place the freestanding rack on a level floor. Use the integrated eyebolts and lifting points only with appropriate lifting hardware and within the enclosure weight limits described in the product documentation. Adjust the vertical mounting rails in 6.4 mm (1/4 in) increments to match equipment mounting depth and secure equipment using the supplied captive hardware. Remove the roof using the pull-pin hinges to access the top cable openings; the roof can be reversed to reposition larger openings for power connectors. Route data and power cabling through the roof or raised-floor openings; use the brush strips for clean cable passthrough and to help maintain air containment. Install PDUs or cable organizers using the pre-installed rear accessory channels and use leveling feet or castors as needed for relocation and final height adjustment.
Verify total equipment weight and lifting requirements against the enclosure documentation before moving or lifting. For seismic, pre-racking, or specialized packaging and ATO options, consult Schneider Electric/APC product documentation and the Design Portal for compatible accessories and configuration guidance.
