Basing Material Army Painter Battlefield Basing: Steppe Grass - Green
Army Painter Battlefield Basing: Steppe Grass - Green is a textured basing material developed to reproduce the look of tall, wild or dry grass on miniature bases, dioramas and wargaming terrain. Supplied in a single green shade and presented in a 150 ml container, this product is intended for hobbyists and modelers who want to add natural grassland effects and visual depth to figures and scenery. The fibres are designed to blend with painted bases and scenic glue to create a convincing steppe or grassland appearance.
This steppe grass provides a darker, more realistic grass tone that enhances contrast and detail on miniature bases. Its single-colour formulation makes it easy to integrate with existing basing layers, and the fine fibres adhere well when applied over scenic glue or textured base paints. The 150 ml quantity covers multiple bases or larger terrain pieces, allowing for consistent scenic results across a project.
Prepare the miniature base or terrain by applying a textured base coat or scenic glue where the grass effect is required. Sprinkle or apply the Steppe Grass fibres onto the tacky surface, pressing gently to ensure contact, then allow the glue to dry fully. For best results, use a darker brown or earth-toned underlayer such as a battleground base to increase depth and contrast; trim or scatter fibres to achieve the desired wild or uneven profile. Seal the finished base with a clear matte adhesive spray or diluted PVA if additional durability is needed.
Use over a brown or earth-coloured base layer to emphasise contrast and realism. Apply in layers for natural variation and combine with other basing materials (small tufts, static grass or flock) to create more complex vegetation. Work over a protected surface and use a small brush to remove excess fibres from models and workspaces.
