Acrylic Speedpaint Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 – Ochre Clay
Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0 – Ochre Clay is a ready-to-use acrylic paint formulated for rapid basecoating and shading of tabletop miniatures. Part of the Speedpaint 2.0 range, this Ochre Clay shade delivers high pigmentation and smooth flow for even coverage on plastic, metal and resin surfaces, enabling efficient layering and quick tabletop-ready results without advanced thinning or mixing.
Ochre Clay provides strong opacity and consistent colour distribution in a single pass for many surfaces, reducing the number of coats required. The formula has been balanced for good flow and controlled pooling in recesses, producing natural shading and depth with minimal blending. As a water-based acrylic, it cleans up easily with water and is compatible with common miniature painting techniques, including drybrushing and selective highlights when used over a suitable primer.
Apply over a clean, dry, primed miniature surface for best results. Stir or roll the bottle gently before use to homogenise pigments. Use a quality brush and apply thin, even coats; a single medium coat often provides good coverage due to the paint's pigmentation. For deeper recesses, allow the paint to settle slightly to create natural shading, or apply an additional thin layer to even out texture. Clean brushes with water immediately after use.
For consistent results, prime miniatures with a compatible primer in a neutral or complementary tone. If a smoother blend is needed, apply successive thin layers rather than one thick coat. Use for mid-tone base layers before applying highlights, washes or weathering. Store the bottle upright, tightly closed, in a cool place away from direct sunlight to preserve pigment stability and flow characteristics.
