Pencil set Astra Artea 3B for learning sketching, pack of 12 (333266)
Pencil set Astra Artea 3B for learning sketching, pack of 12 (333266)
The Astra Artea 3B pencil set contains twelve 3B graphite pencils designed for learning sketching and practising basic drawing techniques. Each pencil produces a soft, dark stroke that is suited to shading, tonal transitions and quick studies. The set is presented in a compact pack suitable for studio, school or home use and targets beginners and students who are developing observational drawing and sketching skills.
These 3B pencils deliver consistent, smooth graphite laydown for easy blending and layering. Their soft cores respond well to pressure variation, enabling a range from deep darks to lighter mid-tones. The pencils are suitable for erasing and reworking without damaging typical sketching papers, and the uniform grade across the pack helps learners focus on technique rather than selecting multiple hardnesses.
Select a comfortable grip and angle for controlled marks; use light pressure for mid-tones and increase pressure for darker strokes. Employ side strokes of the pencil for broad, even shading and point strokes for fine lines and details. Combine erasing and smudging techniques to refine tonal transitions, and keep a scrap of paper beneath your hand to avoid smudging the drawing unintentionally. Regularly sharpen the pencil to maintain a precise point for detail work, and blunt the tip slightly for softer, blended areas.
For best learning results, pair the 3B set with an eraser suitable for graphite and a blending stump or tortillon. Use mid-weight drawing paper (around 120–200 g/m²) to balance surface tooth and eraseability; practise varied pressure and stroke direction to develop control and tonal range.
