KVM Switch ATEN US421A-A7
The ATEN US421A-A7 KVM switch enables up to four computers to share a single USB peripheral such as a keyboard, mouse or multifunction printer. The compact, bus-powered unit is USB 2.0 compliant and supports transfer rates up to 480 Mbps. It is hot-pluggable, provides LED indicators for port focus, and includes overcurrent protection. The package contains the 4‑port USB 2.0 peripheral switch, a 1.8 m USB A to B cable, an installation disk and user instructions.
The switch offers simple port selection via pushbuttons, a configuration utility or an Auto Switch function which eliminates the need for a print server for shared printing. It supports both Windows and Mac platforms, notifies users of port changes with an audible buzzer, and handles multifunction printers. Its compact design and bus-powered operation reduce cable clutter and the need for an external power adapter.
Connect the USB Type B end of the supplied cable to the switch and the Type A ends to the USB ports on each computer or connect the peripheral to the switch’s device port. Use the front-panel pushbuttons, the configuration utility or the Auto Switch feature to select the active computer. The LEDs indicate which port is currently in focus. The unit supports hot-plugging, so devices and PCs can be connected or disconnected while powered on.
Place the switch within the cable reach of all connected computers and keep the included USB cable untangled to ensure reliable switching and data transfer. For uninterrupted shared printing of multifunction printers, enable Auto Switch and verify driver compatibility on each connected computer.
