Managed Switch Avaya ERS 5928GTS-PWR+
The Avaya ERS 5928GTS-PWR+ is a managed L2/L3 Gigabit Ethernet switch designed for network edge and wiring-closet deployments. It provides 24 Gigabit RJ-45 ports and 4 SFP+ uplink modules, supports Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+), and delivers a switching capacity of 212 Gbit/s with a MAC address table of 32,000 entries. Rack-mountable in 1U, the switch is intended to add capacity, performance, and advanced routing services where needed.
Wire-speed forwarding combined with QoS-aware stack virtualization improves application responsiveness and traffic flows. The unit supports high-density gigabit connectivity with 10GbE uplinks, resilient pay-as-you-grow stacking for up to eight switches, and features that simplify convergence of voice, video, and data. As a price-per-port leader for resilient Gigabit Ethernet, it helps keep total cost of ownership low while offering MACsec-ready capabilities and standards-based automation for easier device attachment.
Install the ERS 5928GTS-PWR+ in a standard 19-inch rack using the 1U form factor. Connect access devices to the 24 Gigabit RJ-45 ports and use the 4 SFP+ ports for 10GbE uplinks to aggregation or core switches. Enable PoE/PoE+ on required ports to power IP phones, cameras, or access points. Configure stacking when multiple units are deployed to create a virtualized stack with enhanced availability and a unified management plane. Use the device's L2/L3 management interface to set VLANs, QoS, routing, and security policies according to network design.
For best results, plan port power budgets when using PoE/PoE+ devices, enable QoS and stacking features to prioritize delay-sensitive traffic, and keep firmware up to date. Use SFP+ modules that match the intended fiber or DAC cabling and follow rack airflow and cooling guidelines to ensure reliable operation.
