Axe AWTools AW33057BL — felling/wood chopping axe, weight 2.8 kg
AWTools AW33057BL — felling/wood chopping axe, weight 2.8 kg is a manual axe designed for felling trees and splitting firewood. The tool combines a forged and hardened carbon steel head with a varnished beech handle to provide a balanced, durable instrument for forestry, garden maintenance and firewood preparation. The head has a ground and polished cutting face with a beveled edge, and a rust-resistant powder coat finish for extended outdoor use. Made in Poland, this axe is suited for traditional hand-held chopping techniques and general timber work.
The forged and hardened carbon steel head delivers reliable cutting performance and edge retention, while the ground and polished face reduces friction during cuts. The powder coat finish protects the head from corrosion in outdoor conditions. The varnished beech handle offers a comfortable grip and sufficient stiffness for controlled swings; it is secured with a plastic wedge to maintain a safe connection between head and handle. At 2.8 kg total weight the axe provides substantial swing force for efficient felling and splitting without specialized machinery.
Securely grip the varnished beech handle with both hands, placing one hand near the head when starting and both hands spaced along the handle during full swings. Position the axe so the beveled cutting face meets the wood at a controlled angle and use controlled, rhythmic swings to fell or split timber. For splitting, strike near the edge of the log and repeat along natural cracks or pre-scored lines. Allow the axe head to do the work rather than forcing excessive muscle power, and avoid glancing blows that could damage the cutting edge or handle.
Inspect the head-to-handle connection before each use and ensure the wedge is secure. Keep the cutting face sharp and free of nicks by periodic honing and avoid striking metal, stone or other hard materials. Store the axe in a dry place and apply protective oil to the head if prolonged storage or wet conditions are expected. Use appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves, eye protection and sturdy footwear when felling or splitting wood.
