The BlueOptics SFP5143FU3MKB InfiniBand fibre optic cable is a 3 m OM4 multimode MPO-to-4xST breakout cable designed for high-density networking and data centre interconnects. It features an MPO/UPC multi-fibre connector on one end and four ST/PC duplex connectors on the other, supporting full-duplex data transmission over eight cores (pinout 1–4 & 9–12). The cable uses 50/125 µm core/cladding multimode OM4 fibre optimized for 850 nm transmission and comes with a Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) sheath for reduced smoke and no halogen emission in case of fire. The assembly is factory-tested for insertion loss and return loss and is suitable for use with MPO cassettes and QSFP-based equipment.
The MPO to 4xST breakout design enables compact multi-lane connections without splicing or onsite assembly, reducing installation time and the need for specialised tools. Using OM4 fibre provides improved modal bandwidth and lower attenuation for short-range high-speed applications. The LSZH jacket reduces smoke and hazardous emissions, meeting common safety standards for indoor installations. Connectors use zirconia ceramic ferrules for consistent mating performance and are tested with interferometer and OTDR to ensure low input loss and stable return loss values.
Inspect connectors and cable jacket before installation and ensure compatibility with MPO ports and ST duplex sockets on your equipment or MPO cassette. Route the 3 m cable along cable management paths avoiding tight bends; observe the minimum bend radius specified by the equipment vendor. Plug the MPO connector into the MPO port of the cassette or transceiver and connect the four ST duplex connectors to their corresponding ST ports. Ensure secure seating of each connector and verify optical link integrity with an appropriate test instrument or by checking link status on connected devices.
Store and handle the cable in a clean environment; always use dust caps on disconnected connectors. For peak performance, avoid exceeding the recommended bend radius, keep connector end-faces clean, and follow manufacturer guidelines for MPO polarity and cassette mapping when integrating into multi-lane systems.
