CATerpillar network cable U/UTP Cat.5E gel-filled PVC 305 m (CL-TP512)
CATerpillar network cable U/UTP Cat.5E gel-filled PVC 305 m (CL-TP512) is an indoor unshielded twisted pair cable designed to meet Category 5E performance for Ethernet and structured cabling. The cable contains four U/UTP twisted pairs in a gel-filled core and a PVC outer jacket, supplied on a 305-meter reel to support long continuous runs. The gel filling provides increased protection against moisture ingress in environments where humidity or incidental moisture could affect cable performance, while the PVC sheath offers mechanical protection and ease of installation for interior use.
The gel-filled core enhances moisture resistance, reducing the risk of pair-to-pair corrosion and signal degradation in damp indoor spaces or when routed through areas with occasional condensation. The Category 5E construction supports data transmission rates commonly used in Ethernet networks, and the unshielded design simplifies termination with standard RJ45 connectors and patch panels. Supplied on a 305 m reel, the cable is convenient for long runs, minimizing joints and connection points that can degrade network reliability.
Route the CATerpillar U/UTP Cat.5E cable along planned cable trays, conduits, or wall channels, avoiding tight bends and excessive pulling tension. Terminate to RJ45 keystone jacks or patch panels following T568A or T568B wiring standards as required by the installation. For long runs, run the full 305 m length from distribution points where possible to reduce splices; if splicing is required, use proper butt connectors or junction boxes and ensure continuity and pair integrity. The gel filling improves moisture resistance but does not replace the need for appropriate indoor routing and environmental protection.
When installing, maintain bend radius at least four times the cable diameter and limit pull tension to manufacturer-recommended values. Use appropriate cable management and labeling to keep runs organized and to simplify future maintenance. For areas requiring fire-resistant or plenum-rated cabling, choose a cable with the necessary jacket specifications instead of standard PVC.
