The Celestron NexYZ 3-Axis smartphone mount secures most smartphones to eyepieces between 35 mm and 60 mm in diameter and, with the included adapter ring, to microscope eyepieces down to 25 mm. A strong spring and a threaded twist lock create a reliable two-stage grip on telescopes, spotting scopes, monoculars and binoculars, allowing steady imaging. The adjustable phone platform supports a wide range of devices — including larger phablets — usually without removing the phone case. Quick spring-loaded clamps make switching phones simple, which is useful for group observing sessions.

Advantages

NexYZ provides three-axis (X, Y, Z) adjustment so you can precisely center your phone camera over the eyepiece and then move the phone closer or farther until the full field of view is framed. The mechanism is designed for fast setup: typical attachment, centering and camera start-up take about 30 seconds. The padded eyepiece clamp can be rotated to change between portrait and landscape orientation while retaining fine adjustment capability. The mount is compact and durable, and generally works with most phone cases; very large or folio-style cases may need to be removed for optimal fit.

How to use

Place your phone on the NexYZ platform and secure it — the platform usually accommodates phones with their cases on. Attach the device over the eyepiece of your telescope, spotting scope, binocular or microscope (use the included adapter ring for 25 mm microscope eyepieces). Use the X and Y knobs to center the phone camera over the eyepiece, then adjust the Z axis to bring the camera into focus on the full field of view. Start your camera app and fine-tune the three-axis knobs for exact alignment. To change orientation, rotate the padded eyepiece clamp and re-center using the X, Y and Z adjustments.

Usage recommendations

For best results remove especially bulky or folio-style phone cases (built-in batteries or very large protective cases can interfere with the clamp). NexYZ is not suitable for riflescopes.
