Omni-directional network antenna Cisco Aironet RP-TNC, dual-band 2.4/5 GHz, max gain 5 dBi
Omni-directional Cisco Aironet network antenna with RP-TNC male connector, designed for dual-band operation at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The antenna provides broad, even coverage using an omnidirectional radiation pattern and offers a maximum gain of 5 dBi (3 dBi at 2.4 GHz). It is supplied as a single unit and is intended for indoor deployments where access points or routers accept RP-TNC connectors. The AIR-ANT2535SDW-RS model incorporates a built-in EEPROM for antenna self-identification with compatible Cisco access points, allowing automatic recognition of antenna type and gain by the wireless controller.
The antenna supports dual-band WLAN operation, enabling use with both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks while maintaining a compact form factor suitable for ceiling- or wall-mounted indoor installations. Its omnidirectional pattern delivers consistent coverage in horizontal planes, reducing dead zones around the access point. The RP-TNC male connector allows straightforward connection to access points and external radios that accept RP-TNC. The EEPROM-equipped variant provides automatic identification and simplifies controller-based configuration when used with supported Cisco Aironet and Catalyst access points.
Install the antenna by securely connecting the RP-TNC male connector to the matching RP-TNC female port on the access point or router. Position the antenna vertically for typical omnidirectional coverage; mounting on a ceiling or wall at a central location will maximize horizontal reach. If using the EEPROM-equipped version with supported Cisco access points, verify the access point recognizes the antenna in the controller or device interface so the controller can apply correct antenna type and gain settings. Ensure the device is powered off or follow hot-swap guidance from the access point manufacturer before connecting or disconnecting antennas.
Place the antenna at a central, unobstructed indoor location and avoid close proximity to large metal objects or dense partitions to preserve omnidirectional coverage. Use the EEPROM-enabled model with supported Cisco Aironet and Catalyst access points to enable automatic antenna identification and correct gain reporting in controller-managed environments.
