Managed Switch Cisco Catalyst C9500-16X-E L2/L3 Gigabit Ethernet
Managed Switch Cisco Catalyst C9500-16X-E L2/L3 Gigabit Ethernet
The Cisco Catalyst C9500-16X-E is a managed L2/L3 enterprise switch in the Catalyst 9500 Series, offering a purpose-built fixed core and aggregation platform for campus networks. Based on an x86 CPU, the Catalyst 9500 family is designed for security, IoT and cloud use, and this model provides 16 Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) RJ-45 ports with advanced programmability, serviceability and support for high-density 10G/40G connectivity options. The hardware platform includes multi-core CPU architecture, DDR4 memory and internal storage suitable for core and aggregation deployment in enterprise environments.
The C9500-16X-E delivers enterprise-grade table scale for MAC, routing and ACLs, low-latency buffering and nonblocking switching suitable for campus cores and aggregation. It supports advanced routing and infrastructure services such as MPLS L2/L3 VPNs, Multicast VPN and NAT, along with software-defined access features including host tracking databases and VRF-aware LISP. High-availability capabilities include Cisco StackWise virtual for system virtualization, Graceful Insertion and Removal (GIR), Cisco NSF/SSO and redundant power and cooling design.
Install the C9500-16X-E in a standard 19-inch rack and connect power according to site requirements. Use the console port or web/CLI management interfaces to perform initial configuration, assign IP addressing, enable required L2/L3 protocols and configure security and QoS policies. Integrate the switch into existing campus networks using Cisco management tools or standards-based protocols; enable features such as StackWise virtual, MPLS or LISP only after verifying firmware and license requirements. Monitor operation with SNMP, syslog and telemetry tools and apply software updates per Cisco guidance.
Place this managed switch in the campus core or aggregation layer where 16 Gigabit RJ-45 ports and advanced L2/L3 services are required. Verify licensing and firmware compatibility for MPLS, VPNs and SD-access features and ensure adequate cooling and redundant power for high-availability deployments.
