Network Media Converter ComNet FDX60M2M Multi-mode 16 dB Silver
The ComNet FDX60M2M is a multi-mode network media converter that provides point-to-point transmission of simplex or duplex EIA RS232/RS422/RS485 (2W/4W) data over one or two optical fibers. With a 16 dB link budget and ST fiber connector, this compact unit (104 mm × 94 mm × 28 mm) is designed for reliable wired connectivity in outdoor and roadside installations and is transparent to data encoding for broad compatibility.
The device features a robust design for high reliability in unconditioned out-of-plant environments and is NTCIP compatible. A wide optical dynamic range eliminates the need for optical attenuators. Status LEDs show critical operating parameters, and voltage transient protection on all power and signal lines guards against surges. The unit meets EIA RS232C/D and RS422/RS485 specifications, is compatible with Fiberlink Fiber Link Tester, and is tested to NEMA TS-1/TS-2 and Caltrans traffic signal control equipment environmental requirements. Standard ComFit models are hot-swappable and the compact form factor supports wall, surface, rack, or DIN rail mounting (optional accessories required). A lifetime warranty is provided.
Install the FDX60M2M in the chosen location using wall, surface, rack, or DIN rail mounting as appropriate (optional card cage or DIN bracket may be required). Connect the serial device(s) to the RS232/RS422/RS485 ports and terminate the fiber with ST connectors to the multi-mode transceiver ports. Apply power following the manufacturer’s polarity and voltage specifications and observe the status LEDs to confirm correct operation. For point-to-point links, pair one transmitter and one receiver unit; for duplex operation use the appropriate wiring for RS422/RS485 4-wire or 2-wire modes.
Use multi-mode fiber with appropriate ST connectors and maintain fiber cleanliness. Avoid placing the unit in enclosed, unventilated spaces where ambient temperature may exceed the tested operating range. For installation in traffic signal or roadside cabinets, follow NTCIP and local regulatory requirements.
