Network switch D-Link DES-1210-28P Managed L2, 28 RJ-45 ports, 12.8 Gbit/s switching, PoE, rack-mount
The D-Link DES-1210-28P is a managed Layer 2 network switch with 28 RJ-45 ports, 12.8 Gbit/s switching capacity and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. Housed in a 19" metal rack-mount case with a fanless design, it is intended for small and medium business networks that require reliable wired connectivity, VLANs, traffic control and centralized management.
The switch combines Web Smart management with extensive Layer 2 features, including VLANs, IGMP snooping, LACP and Spanning Tree, while providing QoS and bandwidth control for prioritized traffic. Built-in security functions such as Safeguard Engine, ACLs, 802.1X authentication, IP-MAC-Port Binding and DHCP Server Screening help protect the network from floods, unauthorised access and rogue DHCP servers. Multiple management options are available: web interface, SmartConsole discovery utility, Telnet/CLI and compatibility with D-View 6.0 NMS.
Install the DES-1210-28P in a standard 19" rack and connect end devices and uplinks to the RJ-45 ports. Use the SmartConsole utility or the web-based interface for initial discovery and configuration without changing the PC IP address. Configure VLANs, QoS, PoE settings and security policies (ACLs, 802.1X, IP-MAC-Port Binding) through the management interface. For centralised monitoring and advanced management, add the switch to D-View 6.0. Use Telnet/CLI for scriptable or advanced command-line configuration when needed.
For optimal VoIP performance, enable Auto Voice VLAN and DSCP QoS and reserve bandwidth for voice traffic. Use IP-MAC-Port Binding and 802.1X where endpoint authentication is required, and enable DHCP Server Screening to block unauthorized DHCP servers. Regularly back up configurations and keep firmware updated using the management interface or D-View 6.0.
