Switch D-Link DES-1016D 16-port Ethernet unmanaged switch
The D-Link DES-1016D 16-port Ethernet unmanaged switch provides a simple way to expand wired network capacity in home and small office environments. This compact switch offers 16 10/100 Mbps RJ-45 ports that support store-and-forward switching and auto MDI/MDI-X, enabling plug-and-play deployment without manual configuration. Its unmanaged design focuses on straightforward connectivity for desktops, printers, IP phones and other Ethernet devices where basic, reliable switching is required.
The switch delivers straightforward expansion of Ethernet ports with no setup required, reducing deployment time and technical overhead. Auto MDI/MDI-X on each port eliminates the need for crossover cables and streamlines installation. Store-and-forward switching improves reliability by checking packets for errors before forwarding, and the metal housing provides durability for continuous operation in small network closets or office desktops. Energy-efficient operation and fanless design keep noise and power consumption low.
Place the switch on a stable surface or mount it where ventilation is adequate. Connect the switch to your router or upstream network device using a standard Ethernet cable, then connect your computers, printers or other Ethernet-enabled devices to the remaining ports. The switch will automatically detect link speed and perform switching functions without further configuration. Power the unit using the supplied power adapter and verify link/activity LEDs to confirm connectivity.
For optimal performance, connect high-bandwidth devices to separate ports and avoid daisy-chaining multiple unmanaged switches when possible. Ensure the switch is located in a well-ventilated area and protected from moisture and excessive heat. Use quality Ethernet cables (Cat5e or higher) to achieve reliable 100 Mbps links.
