Network Media Converter D-Link DMC-G01LC
The D-Link DMC-G01LC is a standalone network media converter that converts a copper Ethernet connection to a fiber-optic link, enabling long-distance connections up to 10 km and beyond when used with the appropriate fiber and SFP transceiver. The unit supports Gigabit Ethernet on the copper side and an SFP slot on the fiber side, providing flexible deployment options without the need for a chassis.
The converter provides flexible fiber support via a 100/1000 SFP port (SFP modules sold separately) and auto-negotiation on the copper RJ-45 port for 10/100/1000 Mbps operation. It supports auto MDI/MDIX and half/full duplex modes where applicable, follows standard IEEE 802.3 family protocols for straightforward plug-and-play installation, and is compact for unit-by-unit deployment to save space and reduce cost compared with chassis-based solutions.
Install an appropriate SFP transceiver into the SFP slot (sold separately) according to the fiber type and distance required, then connect the fiber cable to the SFP module. Connect the copper Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port on the converter and plug the unit into power. The device auto-negotiates the copper link speed and requires no configuration software; once powered and cabled, conversion between copper and fiber is immediate.
Use an SFP transceiver that matches your fiber type (single-mode or multimode), wavelength and required distance. Place the converter in a ventilated location and ensure proper grounding of connected equipment. Verify SFP compatibility with connected networking equipment to ensure link stability.
