The de Buyer 5613.26 frying pan Single pan is a 26 cm mineral B element iron skillet designed for everyday cooking. Constructed from 100% natural iron, this single pan features an organic beeswax protective finish and anti-oxidation treatment. It is supplied without any synthetic nonstick coating (PFOA- and PTFE-free), and its cooking performance improves with use as the pan seasons and develops natural nonstick properties.
This iron pan offers a durable, chemical-free cooking surface that benefits from progressive seasoning. Its beeswax-based protective finish prevents oxidation before first use and supports an ecological manufacturing approach. High heat tolerance allows rapid sealing, browning and grilling, while iron molecules released during cooking can contribute to dietary iron intake. The pan is recyclable and designed for long-term use: its natural nonstick qualities increase with repeated heating and proper care.
Before first use, remove any packaging and wash the pan in warm water without harsh detergents, then dry thoroughly. To remove the beeswax finish, heat the pan and wipe away melted wax, or wash with mild soap and water if necessary. Season the pan by applying a thin layer of vegetable oil and heating it until it smokes, then let it cool. Repeat seasoning cycles to build a durable, natural nonstick layer. Use medium-high to high heat for searing, browning and grilling; lower heat for delicate foods. Clean the pan with warm water and a soft brush or sponge, dry immediately, and lightly oil the surface to maintain seasoning.
Avoid prolonged soaking and aggressive detergents to preserve the seasoning. Do not store acidic foods in the pan for long periods, as acids can break down the seasoning. Re-season regularly if food begins to stick or if the pan shows signs of oxidation. Use wooden or silicone utensils to protect the seasoning surface and heat gradually to extend the life of the pan.
