SFP28 Fiber Optic Transceiver Module Dell 407-BBXU 25 Gbps 850 nm
Dell 407-BBXU is an SFP28 fiber optic transceiver module that supports data rates up to 25 Gbps and operates at an 850 nm wavelength. The module fits SFP28 ports and uses a Duplex LC connector to provide short-range multimode fiber links. It is compatible with Dell 25GbE switches and server network interfaces that accept SFP28 form-factor transceivers and is supplied as a single unit for uplink and server connectivity. The transceiver is hot-pluggable and designed for insertion into active equipment without powering down the host device.
The module provides 25 Gbps multimode fiber connectivity for short-range links up to 300 m over OM3/OM4 multimode fiber. Its SFP28 small form factor conserves port density while supporting high-bandwidth links. The transceiver includes an enhanced digital diagnostic monitoring (DDM) interface that reports real-time operating parameters such as temperature, laser bias current, transmitted and received optical power, and supply voltage, enabling status checks and basic troubleshooting without additional test equipment.
Ensure the host port supports SFP28 transceivers and the transceiver is compatible with the network device model. Before insertion, handle the transceiver by its housing and avoid touching the optical interfaces; keep protective dust caps on until installation. Insert the transceiver into an empty SFP28 port until it latches; secure any cage or retention mechanism required by the host device. Connect multimode duplex LC patch cables of appropriate grade (OM3/OM4) and verify link status through the switch or server management interface. Use the device management tools to read DDM parameters for operational status and diagnostics.
Use OM3 or OM4 multimode fibers and quality duplex LC patch cords for the specified reach; avoid single-mode fiber for this 850 nm multimode transceiver. Observe electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions when handling the module and keep optical connectors clean; use optical-grade cleaning tools if contamination is suspected. For reliable operation, match transceiver types at both ends of the link and verify compatibility with the host device firmware and optics policy.
