Colored pencil Derwent Chromaflow Yellow 2306033 — artist-quality wax pencil, single yellow shade
Derwent Chromaflow Yellow 2306033 is a single yellow artist-quality wax pencil from the Chromaflow range that delivers smooth, even colour with a soft, blendable core. Formulated for consistent pigment laydown, this pencil supports layering and tonal build-up while maintaining a controllable mark for illustration, sketching, colouring and mixed-media work. The pencil’s wax-based composition helps reduce drag on paper and enables seamless transitions between values when building up highlights and midtones.
The Chromaflow Yellow offers a creamy, low-friction application that spreads evenly across paper surfaces and blends readily with other wax-based colours. Pigment concentration is balanced to provide good coverage in single-layer strokes while remaining responsive to repeated layering for deeper saturation. The pencil retains a steady core that resists excessive crumbling, allowing fine detail and smooth gradients without frequent over-sharpening.
Use the pencil with a sharp or slightly dulled point depending on whether fine detail or softer coverage is needed. Apply light, even strokes for initial layers and increase pressure or add subsequent layers to achieve greater saturation. Blend with a dry blending stump or a compatible wax pencil to smooth transitions; for mixed-media effects, layer over light ink washes once they are dry. Store horizontally or capped to minimise core breakage and maintain consistent performance.
For best results, test colour interaction on a scrap of the chosen paper before committing to final artwork. When blending with other Derwent wax-based pencils, build colour gradually to avoid wax bloom and use a fixative spray if long-term preservation is required.
