Description

The Edimax ES-1008P V2 is an 8-port Fast Ethernet switch with Power over Ethernet (PoE+) support, designed for home, small and medium-sized networks. It supplies data and power to PoE-enabled devices such as wireless access points, network cameras and IP phones while also connecting non-PoE devices like computers, printers or NAS. The compact, fan-less design and plug-and-play operation make it suitable for expanding networks where quiet and reliable operation is required.

Advantages

The switch provides eight IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) ports delivering up to 30 W per port and can automatically detect PoE devices to send power only when required. DIP switches enable per-port on/off control, a CCTV mode for multicast video performance and port-based VLAN and QoS controls. Selected DIP switch settings also extend PoE power delivery up to 200 meters at 10 Mbps duplex for longer cable runs. Additionally, the ES-1008P V2 supports IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet to reduce power consumption during low activity.

How to use

Plug the ES-1008P V2 into AC mains and connect devices using standard Cat-5e or better Ethernet cables. For PoE devices, simply connect the device to any of the PoE-enabled ports and the switch will detect and supply power if the device is IEEE 802.3at/af compliant. Use the DIP switches to enable or disable PoE per port, activate CCTV mode for improved multicast video handling, enable port isolation or set hardware QoS priority as needed.

Usage recommendations

For long-distance PoE powering, enable the designated DIP switches to activate 10 Mbps duplex mode which extends power delivery up to 200 meters; verify that connected devices tolerate the lower link speed. Use CCTV mode when multiple IP cameras are deployed to improve multicast performance and enable port isolation to reduce broadcast or multicast interference between cameras.
