Unmanaged Switch Edimax GS-1008E V2
The Edimax GS-1008E V2 is an unmanaged 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch designed to upgrade or expand wired networks for home, small office and enterprise environments. It provides eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports, a 4,000-entry MAC address table and a 16 Gbit/s switching capacity, supporting jumbo frames up to 9K for improved throughput on large file transfers. Housed in a durable, fanless metal case, the switch supports desktop placement or wall mounting and operates on a 5V DC input.
The switch delivers full-duplex gigabit performance with up to 2000 Mbps throughput per port, auto-negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDI-X for easy cabling. Store-and-forward architecture filters fragments and CRC error packets to maintain reliable data delivery. It is compliant with IEEE networking standards including Energy Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) and includes inactive link detection and cable length detection to reduce power consumption. The fanless design ensures quiet operation while the compact metal enclosure allows flexible desktop or wall-mounted deployment.
Place the switch on a stable surface or mount it on a wall using the supplied mounting points. Connect power to the 5V DC input. Use standard Ethernet cables to connect devices to any of the eight RJ-45 ports; Auto-MDI/MDI-X eliminates the need for crossover cables. The device is unmanaged and requires no software configuration — it is plug-and-play. Allow space around the unit for passive cooling due to its fanless design.
For optimal performance, connect servers, NAS units or high-traffic workstations to separate Gigabit ports and enable full-duplex links on connected devices. Use quality Cat5e or Cat6 cables and avoid placing the switch in confined, poorly ventilated spaces to maintain efficient passive cooling and energy-saving operation.
