The GS-1016 is a 16-port gigabit rack-mount switch designed for medium and large network environments to strengthen network connectivity. Supplied with 19" rack-mount brackets, the switch fits standard rack cabinets and provides gigabit performance and efficiency for servers, workstations and attached devices.

How to use

Mount the GS-1016 in a standard 19" rack using the included brackets and connect uplink and end devices to the Gigabit ports using Cat5e or higher cables. The switch will automatically negotiate speed and duplex settings for each port. For energy savings, leave unused ports disconnected so inactive link detection and cable-length detection can adjust power usage. Jumbo Frames support can be enabled on connected devices and servers when transferring large files to improve throughput.

Recommendations

Use Cat5e or Cat6 cables for reliable Gigabit links, place the fan-less switch in a well-ventilated rack area to ensure passive cooling, and enable Jumbo Frames only where all devices on the path support the larger frame size.
