Managed Switch Edimax GS-5208PLG V2
The EDIMAX Pro GS-5208PLG V2 is a managed Gigabit Ethernet switch with 8 Gigabit PoE+ RJ-45 ports and 2 Gigabit SFP uplink ports. Designed for small to medium network environments, the switch fits standard 19-inch 1U rack mounting and delivers a switching capacity of 20 Gbit/s with a MAC address table up to 4000 entries. It supports Power over Ethernet to supply connected devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones and access points, while web-based management provides essential network controls.
The GS-5208PLG V2 combines PoE+ power delivery with fibre uplink flexibility, enabling deployment across branches and remote locations. It includes built-in power backfeed protection and PoE detection to protect ports from non-standard PSE devices. With a forwarding rate of up to 14.88 Mpps and 20 Gbit/s backplane bandwidth, the switch provides consistent throughput for connected devices. Web-smart management features such as QoS, 802.1Q VLAN, IPv4/IPv6 support, port trunking, IGMP snooping and ACLs allow controlled and efficient traffic handling.
Mount the GS-5208PLG V2 in a 19-inch 1U rack or place it on a stable surface. Connect uplink fibre or copper to the SFP or Gigabit uplink ports and attach powered devices to the PoE+ RJ-45 ports. Access the web management interface via the switch IP address to configure VLANs, QoS, port aggregation and security settings. Monitor connected devices and traffic through the management pages and apply firmware updates as provided by the manufacturer.
For long-distance PoE delivery, enable the long-range mode to extend data and power reach up to 200 meters at 10 Mbps full-duplex on a per-port basis; use this mode for IP cameras, access points or PoE IoT devices at remote locations. Always verify connected PSE equipment compatibility and keep firmware up to date to ensure port protection and stable operation.
