Network Media Converter EFB Elektronik EL031
The EFB Elektronik EL031 is a Gigabit Ethernet network media converter designed to bridge copper and fiber links with a maximum data transfer rate of 1000 Mbit/s. Housed in a black metal casing, the compact EL031 (71 mm x 94 mm x 26 mm) provides a stable wired connection using a MiniGBIC SFP fiber optic connector and supports Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The device runs from a wide input voltage range of 100 - 240 V and is intended for installations that require reliable media conversion between copper Ethernet and fiber optic segments.
The EL031 combines a compact metal enclosure with Gigabit performance and SFP compatibility to enable flexible deployment in rack, wall or desktop installations. Its support for a MiniGBIC SFP connector allows selection of fiber transceivers to match distance and fiber type requirements. The metal housing contributes to mechanical robustness and electromagnetic shielding while the wide input voltage range simplifies integration into varied power environments.
Install the EL031 on a flat surface or within an equipment cabinet where the metal housing can be secured and ventilated. Insert a compatible MiniGBIC SFP transceiver into the SFP slot and connect the fiber optic cable according to the transceiver type (single-mode or multi-mode). Connect the Gigabit Ethernet copper link to the Ethernet interface. Apply mains power within the 100–240 V range and verify link/activity LEDs or connected equipment indicators to ensure the conversion path is established. When replacing SFP modules or cabling, power down the converter if required by your site procedures to avoid transceiver damage.
Select SFP transceivers that match the required fiber type and distance and follow manufacturer guidelines for ESD protection when handling transceivers and fiber connectors. Ensure adequate ventilation around the metal housing and secure mounting to prevent mechanical stress on fiber connections. Regularly inspect fiber connectors for cleanliness to maintain optimal link performance.
