Fibre optic InfiniBand cable EFB Elektronik MTPF12LCOM3-5 — OM3, MTP to 12×LC, 5 m, purple

EFB Elektronik MTPF12LCOM3-5 is a 5 m fibre optic InfiniBand cable with OM3 multimode fibres and an MTP to 12×LC breakout termination. The cable uses 50 µm core multimode fibres specified for short-reach, high-bandwidth interconnects, providing a compact trunk-to-duplex LC solution for rack, switch and server connections. The purple jacket and factory-terminated MTP connector simplify deployment in structured cabling environments where high-density links and orderly fiber management are required.

Advantages

The MTP to 12×LC configuration offers a single-cable trunk that splits into twelve LC duplex endpoints, reducing cabling bulk while maintaining signal integrity across OM3 multimode fibres. The 50 µm core supports multimode transceiver modules commonly used in InfiniBand and short-range Ethernet links. A 5 m length covers typical inter-rack and within-rack distances without excess slack, and the color-coded jacket helps with identification in crowded patch panels.

Suitable for

• Data centre spine-to-leaf and top-of-rack to switch breakout connections
• Server and storage array interconnects requiring high-density fibre termination
• InfiniBand fabrics and multimode short-reach optical networks
• Patch panels and breakout panels where a single MTP trunk feeds multiple LC ports

Key specifications

• Fiber type: OM3 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector A: MTP multi-fiber connector
• Connector B: 12 × LC duplex terminations
• Length: 5 m
• Jacket color: purple
• Application: short-range high-speed data interconnects

How to use

Choose appropriate port polarity and ensure the MTP connector aligns with the trunk port orientation on the switch or patch panel. Insert the MTP connector into the multi-fiber receptacle until it latches, then route the breakout bundle to the target LC ports. Plug each LC connector into the corresponding duplex transceiver or panel port, taking care to maintain correct transmit/receive pairing. Avoid tight bends and secure the cable to cable management elements to prevent strain on terminations.

Usage recommendations

Inspect connector endfaces before installation and clean with suitable fiber cleaning tools when necessary. Use compatible multimode transceivers and verify polarity mapping between MTP trunk and LC breakout to ensure correct channel continuity. For optimal performance, adhere to OM3 multimode insertion loss and return loss guidelines and minimize bend radius violations during routing.
