EFB Elektronik MTPF12MTPFOM5-5 is a 5 m multimode fibre optic cable with OM5 graded-index glass and MTP connectors on both ends. With a 50 µm core diameter, the cable is engineered for high-density InfiniBand and data centre interconnects where shortwave wavelength division multiplexing and multimode transmission are required. The pre-terminated MTP–MTP assembly simplifies installation between patch panels, server NICs and active equipment while maintaining consistent optical performance across multiple channels.
This OM5 multimode MTP–MTP cable provides compact high-fibre-count connectivity suitable for dense rack environments. Its factory-terminated MTP connectors reduce field termination time and minimize insertion loss variability. The 50 µm core diameter supports standard multimode modal bandwidth characteristics for short-reach high-speed links and is compatible with shortwave multiplexing systems. The 5 m length offers flexibility for typical cabinet-to-cabinet or equipment-to-patch-panel runs without excess slack.
Route the MTP–MTP cable between the two intended patch panels, cassettes or devices making sure bend radius limits are respected. Align the MTP connectors with the receiving adapter or cassette and insert until the connector latch engages. Verify polarity and channel mapping according to your network plan, then test each fibre channel with appropriate optical test equipment to confirm insertion loss and continuity before finalising cable management. Do not attempt field termination of the MTP connectors; use factory-terminated assemblies to ensure factory-controlled connector performance.
