Fiber optic SC‑to‑SC adapter electro base AD‑SC/SC‑SXOM4 Simplex OM multimode

Electro Base AD‑SC/SC‑SXOM4 Simplex OM multimode adapter is a compact SC‑to‑SC coupling designed to join two simplex multimode fiber connectors. It ensures accurate ferrule alignment and stable mechanical connection for single‑fiber simplex multimode links. The adapter is intended for use in patch panels, wall plates and equipment racks where low insertion loss and reliable repeatable connections are required in LAN, data center and FTTH environments.

Advantages

The adapter provides precise optical alignment to minimize insertion loss and return loss for multimode fibers. Its simplex SC form factor occupies minimal panel space while offering robust retention for SC connectors. The component is compatible with standard multimode OM fiber connectors and is suitable for repeated mating cycles without significant degradation of performance. The simple, standardized design allows straightforward mounting in commonly used panels and wall plates.

Suitable for

• Multimode simplex fiber patching in local area networks (LAN)
• Fiber links in data center patch panels and distribution frames
• FTTH indoor terminations and apartment or office wall plates
• Equipment racks and enclosures requiring single‑fiber multimode couplings

Key specifications

• Connector type: SC female to SC female (simplex)
• Fiber mode: Multimode (OM)
• Form factor: Simplex coupler for panel or plate mounting
• Typical insertion loss: low (designed for multimode OM performance)
• Durability: designed for multiple mating cycles
• Material: durable housing suitable for indoor installation

How to use

Install the adapter into the designated opening of a patch panel, wall plate or rack module according to the mounting type of the enclosure. Insert the SC connector ferrule of the first multimode fiber cable into one side of the adapter until it clicks, then insert the SC connector of the mating cable on the opposite side. Verify optical continuity and expected signal levels using appropriate test equipment. To disconnect, depress the connector latch and withdraw the connector straight out to avoid damaging the ferrule or adapter.

Usage recommendations

Keep connector endfaces clean and protected with dust caps when not in use. Use appropriate fiber cleaning tools and inspection microscopes to maintain low insertion loss. Avoid excessive mechanical stress or bending at the termination points and follow standard multimode fiber handling practices to ensure long service life and consistent optical performance.
