Optical fiber SC/UPC pigtail electro base SC/U-P-1.0 SM 1.0 m
Optical fiber SC/UPC pigtail electro base SC/U-P-1.0 SM 1.0 m
Single-mode optical fiber pigtail with an SC/UPC connector from electro base, model SC/U-P-1.0, length 1.0 m. This pigtail features a factory-polished SC/UPC connector on one end and a bare, jacketed single-mode fiber on the other end prepared for fusion splicing. It is intended for termination and splicing tasks in fiber optic networks and provides a consistent connector interface for patch panels, splice trays and distribution frames.
The pigtail delivers low insertion loss and stable return loss thanks to the UPC polish on the SC connector, ensuring predictable optical performance in single-mode links. Pre-terminated connectors reduce field termination time and the risk of connector contamination or mis-polishing. The 1.0 m jacketed fiber length offers sufficient slack for routing inside racks or splice enclosures while minimizing excess cable bulk.
Route the pigtail inside the enclosure or rack to provide enough slack for splicing and connector access. Secure the jacketed portion in the splice tray or strain relief point, cleave and fusion-splice the bare fiber to the incoming fiber according to standard splice procedures, and then place the splice into the splice protector. After splicing, insert the SC/UPC connector into the corresponding adapter or patch panel port and verify optical continuity and loss with appropriate test equipment.
Handle the pre-terminated connector by the boot and ferrule area to avoid contamination; always inspect and clean the SC/UPC end-face with approved fiber cleaning tools before mating. Use proper strain relief and cable management in splice enclosures to avoid bending below the specified minimum bend radius for single-mode fiber.
