Welding Electrodes ESAB OK 61.30 Ø2.5 mm Flux-Coated Rutile 1.5 kg
ESAB OK 61.30 Ø2.5 mm flux-coated rutile welding electrodes are designed for stick (SMAW) welding of mild and low-alloy steels. Supplied in a 1.5 kg pack, these electrodes deliver stable arc ignition, a smooth bead appearance and straightforward slag removal. They are intended for general fabrication, repair and on-site maintenance where ease of use and predictable results are required.
These rutile electrodes offer consistent arc stability and reliable starting characteristics, which help reduce rework during manual welding. The flux coating promotes a smooth weld profile with minimal spatter and an easily detachable slag, improving productivity in patching and fabrication tasks. Their 2.5 mm diameter provides a balance between penetration and control for common joint types.
These electrodes are formulated for mild and low-alloy steels and are not intended for welding stainless steel, high-alloy steels or specialized metallurgy where matching filler composition is critical. For very thick sections that require deep penetration or for precision, cosmetic welds on visible architectural components, alternative electrode types or welding processes may be preferable.
Select an appropriate welding current for 2.5 mm electrodes and set the holder and cable connections according to the welding power source manufacturer's recommendations. Clean the joint area of contaminants such as rust, oil or paint. Strike an arc and maintain a consistent travel speed and angle to achieve an even bead. Allow the weld to cool and chip off the slag between passes; remove remaining slag with a wire brush prior to final inspection or subsequent welding.
Store electrodes in a dry environment to avoid moisture pickup that can cause porosity or hydrogen-induced cracking. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow standard welding safety procedures. For best results, perform a test weld to confirm settings and technique before proceeding with production or critical repairs.
