Portable Spectrum Analyzer extra digital TV991211 — handheld RF measurement instrument
The extra digital TV991211 is a portable spectrum analyzer and handheld RF measurement instrument designed for field and laboratory use. It provides frequency analysis, signal level measurement and basic generator functions in a compact, battery-powered unit suitable for troubleshooting, signal monitoring and verification of wireless systems, transmitters and receivers.
The TV991211 combines a 2.8" 320×240 resistive touchscreen with jog-switch control and USB serial connectivity, plus an internal linear power supply to reduce switching noise. It offers both low and high input/output modes, selectable resolution bandwidths, and optional features such as an internal reference generator and external attenuator. The unit supports quick scans with automatic optimization of scan points, multiple measurement resolutions and the ability to demodulate audio after a minor hardware modification.
Power the unit from its internal battery or a USB source and use the resistive touchscreen or jog switch to select mode, frequency range and resolution bandwidth. Choose low or high input mode depending on the measured frequency, and set input attenuation manually or to automatic (0–31 dB in 1 dB steps) to protect the front end and optimize measurements. Use the generator outputs for signal injection or alignment tasks, selecting modulation or sweep functions if needed. Connect via the USB serial port for remote control or data transfer; note that the optional TTL USART requires software support not yet implemented.
For accurate measurements, keep input power below −25 dBm when possible, use appropriate attenuation settings, and select an RBW that balances sensitivity and scan speed. Avoid strong out-of-band signals in high input mode to reduce distortion, and perform a power level calibration to achieve the stated ±1 dB accuracy.
