Extralink LC/UPC Pigtail, Singlemode G.652D, 900µm PVC, 1 m, FTTH, yellow
Extralink LC/UPC Pigtail is a singlemode fiber optic pigtail designed for FTTH installations. It features an LC/UPC connector on one end and a 1 m length of tight-buffered 900 µm G.652D singlemode fiber with a yellow PVC jacket for easy identification. The G.652D fiber offers improved bending performance with minimal additional attenuation, making the pigtail suitable for confined spaces such as distribution boxes, customer premises and small cabinets. The pre-terminated LC end is intended for fusion splicing into distribution panels, adapters or terminal boxes and enables fast, standardized termination of optical lines.
The LC/UPC pigtail provides a ready-made, factory-polished connector that reduces field termination time and ensures consistent optical performance. The 900 µm tight-buffered construction with PVC jacket offers mechanical protection and simple handling during installation. G.652D singlemode fiber minimizes bend-loss sensitivity, which helps maintain signal integrity in installations with tight bends and frequent direction changes. The yellow jacket color simplifies fiber type identification in multi-fiber environments.
Prepare the pigtail by stripping the protective outer jacket and cleaving the fiber according to the fusion splicer manufacturer's instructions. Align and fusion-splice the un-terminated fiber end to the incoming drop or feeder fiber, then protect the splice with a heat-shrink sleeve or splice protector and place it inside a splice enclosure or distribution box. Route the LC/UPC connector to the patch panel or adapter and secure it in the appropriate adapter slot. Perform optical loss testing to verify splice quality and overall link attenuation.
Handle the LC connector with care to avoid contamination of the ferrule; always use appropriate cleaning tools and dust caps when the connector is not in use. Avoid bending the 900 µm fiber beyond recommended radii during installation and ensure splices and connectors are mechanically protected inside enclosures to maintain long-term optical performance.
