Extralink SC/UPC pigtail multimode OM3 50/125 µm 2 m FTTH, Easy strip
Extralink SC/UPC pigtail multimode OM3 50/125 µm, 2 m, Easy strip is a factory-terminated short cable designed for FTTH and short-range multimode networks. The pigtail uses OM3 50/125 µm multimode fibre with a standard SC/UPC ferrule for reliable physical connection to patch panels, splice trays and active equipment. The cable jacket features an easy-strip design to simplify preparation for splicing and termination in field enclosures or distribution boxes.
The pigtail provides consistent optical performance typical of OM3 multimode fibre, suitable for higher bandwidth short-range links. The SC/UPC connector offers low-reflection, physical-contact mating compatible with standard SC adapters and patch panels. The easy-strip jacket reduces preparation time during installation, enabling faster and cleaner access to the fibre for splicing. A compact 2 m length keeps excess cable manageable inside splice enclosures and equipment racks.
Prepare the installation site by mounting the splice enclosure or patch panel. Use the easy-strip jacket to expose the buffer and cladding with standard stripping tools, following fibre handling best practices to avoid contamination. Secure the pigtail in the splice tray or management panel and perform fusion or mechanical splicing to the installed permanent fibre. After splicing, route the SC/UPC connector to the appropriate adapter or device port and verify optical continuity and loss with a visual fault locator or power meter.
Handle the OM3 multimode fibre with standard fibre care: keep connectors clean, avoid tight bends that exceed the cable’s bend radius, and use appropriate splice protectors. Use cleaning wipes and inspection tools before mating SC/UPC connectors, and verify link performance after installation to ensure expected attenuation and connectivity.
