Fiber patchcord Extralink SC/APC–SC/APC Singlemode G.657.A1 3 mm, 5 m
Extralink SC/APC–SC/APC singlemode patchcord, 3 mm diameter and 5 m length, is designed for low-loss optical interconnection in telecom and data networks. The cable uses G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fibre, providing improved performance in confined routing and FTTH installations. Both ends are terminated with SC/APC connectors in simplex configuration to ensure stable singlemode signal transmission between equipment, patch panels, and subscriber terminals.
The G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fibre reduces attenuation caused by tight bends and routing inside cabinets or premises. SC/APC connectors provide low back-reflection and reliable mating performance for singlemode links. The 3 mm jacket offers a balance between flexibility and mechanical protection, suitable for indoor and FTTH environments. The 5 m length covers common intra-rack and equipment-to-equipment connections without excess slack.
Route the patchcord between the two connection points, avoiding excessive bending and sharp kinks. Insert SC/APC connectors into matching SC/APC adapters or ports, ensuring the angled ferrule faces align with the mating connector to secure low-reflection contact. Secure excess cable to prevent strain on connector terminations and avoid compressing the cable jacket in tight clamps or cable management trays. For FTTH installations, connect one end to the optical line terminal or distribution box and the other to the customer's optical network unit or indoor terminal.
Handle connectors by the boot or housing and keep protective caps on unused ends to prevent contamination. Clean connector end-faces with appropriate fibre cleaning tools before mating and follow standard optical safety practices when working with powered fibres.
