Pigtail SC/APC single-mode Extralink G.657A1 900µm FTTH cable 1.5 m
Pigtail SC/APC single-mode Extralink G.657A1 900µm FTTH cable 1.5 m is a factory-terminated optical pigtail designed for FTTH and FTTx access networks. The cable uses a G.657.A1 single-mode fiber with a 900 µm tight-buffer jacket and is terminated with an SC/APC connector ready for splicing into splice trays or connecting in patch panels. Its reduced bending loss properties make it suitable for installations in confined spaces, distribution boxes and cabinets where frequent direction changes and tight bends occur.
The Extralink pigtail provides a pre-polished SC/APC connector for reliable mating and low back reflection in single-mode links. G.657.A1 fiber offers enhanced bend tolerance compared with standard single-mode fibers, reducing the risk of attenuation increase in tight routing. The 900 µm buffer simplifies handling and protects the glass fiber during fusion splicing while the 1.5 m length is convenient for typical splice tray and panel terminations.
Prepare the fiber distribution panel or splice tray and secure the pigtail entry according to the cabinet or panel layout. Strip the 900 µm buffer and cleave the fiber for fusion splicing to the incoming feeder or drop fiber, or insert the SC/APC connector into the adapter in the patch panel if required. Route and secure the pigtail to avoid tight bends below the minimum bend radius for G.657.A1 fibre and fix strain relief at the splice tray to prevent movement after installation.
Handle the factory-terminated SC/APC connector by the boot to avoid contaminating the ferrule; clean the connector end-face before mating. Maintain gentle bend radii consistent with G.657.A1 specifications, use appropriate splice protectors and label each pigtail at the panel for easy identification during maintenance.
