Pigtail Extralink SC/APC single-mode G.657.A1 900µm FTTH 2 m
Pigtail Extralink SC/APC single-mode G.657.A1 900µm FTTH 2 m is a factory-terminated fiber assembly designed for FTTH and other single-mode optical network terminations. The pigtail uses a G.657.A1 bend-insensitive single-mode fibre with a 900 µm buffered coating and an SC/APC connector. With a 2 m length and SC full-duplex termination, it is intended for splicing into fibre distribution panels or terminating client outlets in residential and commercial installations.
The G.657.A1 bend-insensitive fibre reduces loss caused by tight bends, which is beneficial in compact cabinets and distribution boxes. The 900 µm buffered construction offers mechanical protection for easier handling and splicing, while the SC/APC connector provides stable, low-reflection mating for single-mode links. Factory termination ensures consistent connector quality and reduces on-site termination time compared with field-terminated connectors.
Prepare the fibre distribution panel or splice tray and secure the incoming cable according to site practice. Strip the outer jacket and buffer to expose the bare fibre, clean it, then perform fusion splicing between the pigtail fibre and the incoming fibre following standard fusion-splicing procedures. After splicing, protect the splice with a heat-shrink sleeve or splice protector and route the pigtail to the termination location. Insert the SC/APC connector into the appropriate adapter or patch panel port, observing correct polarity for duplex links.
Handle the 900 µm buffered fibre carefully to avoid microbending; maintain recommended bend radii even though G.657.A1 fibre tolerates tighter bends. Use appropriate cleaning tools for the SC/APC connector endface before mating, and perform insertion loss and return loss tests after installation to verify performance.
