Extralink Pigtail SC/APC PVC single-mode G.652D 900μm 1 m
Extralink Pigtail SC/APC PVC single-mode G.652D 900μm 1 m is a factory-terminated optical pigtail designed for FTTH and indoor distribution applications. The product uses a single-mode G.652D fibre with a 900 μm loose tube coating and a PVC outer jacket. Terminated with an SC/APC connector, the pigtail provides low back-reflection suitable for splicing and patching in optical distribution frames, customer premises equipment and compact distribution enclosures.
The SC/APC termination offers low return loss for systems where reflections must be minimised. The G.652D single-mode fibre provides stable attenuation and improved bending performance appropriate for tight routing in cabinets and distribution boxes. The 900 μm loose tube coating simplifies fibre handling during fusion splicing and connectorisation, and the 1 m length is suitable for short patch runs between splice trays and patch panels. The PVC jacket gives basic mechanical protection for indoor installation environments.
Prepare the installation by routing the pigtail from the splice tray to the patch panel or customer outlet, avoiding sharp bends that exceed the specified bending radius of the fibre. Strip the outer PVC jacket and 900 μm coating only as required for splicing or for securing in a mechanical splice holder. Perform fusion splicing or use appropriate splicing sleeves to join the pigtail to the incoming fibre; test loss and return loss after splicing. Secure the pigtail within the enclosure to prevent strain on the splice and route the SC/APC connector into the patch panel adaptor or socket.
Handle the fibre by the buffered section and avoid touching or contaminating the SC/APC ferrule. Keep bend radius gentle during installation, and perform inspection and cleaning of the connector end-face before mating. Store excess length in the splice tray and protect splices with appropriate sleeves. Use the 1 m length for short internal connections; select longer pigtails if greater reach is required.
