Pigtail Extralink E2000/APC PVC Single-mode G.657.A1 FTTH 1.5 m
Extralink Pigtail E2000/APC PVC Single-mode G.657.A1 FTTH 1.5 m is a factory-terminated single-mode fibre pigtail with an E-2000 (APC) connector on one end and a factory-prepared bare fibre for fusion splicing on the other. The cable uses an FTTH-type construction with a PVC outer jacket and bend-insensitive G.657.A1 fibre, providing consistent single-mode transmission in confined spaces such as patch cabinets, distribution boxes and subscriber terminals. The 1.5 m length is intended for short interconnections and customer termination during FTTx installations.
This pigtail combines a precision E-2000 (APC) connector with a pre-cleaved fibre tail ready for splicing, reducing field preparation time and ensuring repeatable connector performance. The use of G.657.A1 bend-insensitive single-mode fibre reduces the risk of additional attenuation where the cable is routed around tight bends or inside compact enclosures. A PVC jacket offers basic mechanical protection and ease of handling during termination and installation.
Prepare the splice tray or patch panel and secure the pigtail tail in the splice holder. Strip the protective coating of the prepared fibre end following standard fibre stripping procedures, clean the fibre, and perform fusion splicing to the incoming fibre using an appropriately calibrated fusion splicer. After splicing, protect the splice with a heat-shrink splice protector and route the pigtail inside the enclosure, avoiding excessive tension. Plug the E-2000 (APC) connector into the matching adapter or port and secure any cable management elements to maintain bend radii.
Handle connectors and bare fibre with clean hands and use lint-free wipes and approved fibre cleaners to avoid contamination. Maintain minimum bend radius recommendations for G.657.A1 fibre when dressing the cable inside enclosures. Use a dust cap on the E-2000 (APC) connector when not connected. Verify optical continuity and insertion loss after splicing and before closing the enclosure.
