PoE Switch EXTREME 4220 24P — 24x Ethernet PoE ports, 4x SFP uplinks
EXTREME 4220 24P is a Layer 2 PoE switch with 24 Ethernet ports that support Power over Ethernet and four SFP uplink ports for fiber connectivity. The switch is intended for small to mid-sized networks and provides both data connectivity and PoE power to endpoints such as IP phones, surveillance cameras, and wireless access points. Manufacturer lifecycle estimates include CO2 emissions for manufacturing, transportation, use and recycling over an assumed five-year product life.
The switch combines 24 PoE-enabled RJ45 ports with four SFP uplinks to balance powered edge connections and flexible fiber backhaul. PoE support enables centralized power delivery to devices without separate power supplies, while SFP ports allow integration with fiber infrastructure. Lifecycle CO2 estimates give an overview of environmental impact across manufacturing, transport, operation and recycling phases.
Install the switch in a suitable rack or on a flat surface with proper ventilation. Connect PoE-powered devices to the RJ45 ports and fiber or uplink switches to the SFP ports as needed. Ensure correct cabling and network configuration according to site addressing and VLAN plans; configure basic Layer 2 settings such as VLANs, trunking and port speed/duplex through the switch management interface or provided management tools. Observe PoE budget and device power requirements to avoid overloading the switch’s power capacity.
Place the switch in a controlled environment with stable temperature and humidity, use appropriate surge protection for network and power lines, and perform regular firmware updates and configuration backups. Monitor PoE power consumption and plan device placement to remain within the switch’s PoE capacity; consider using fiber uplinks for backbone links to reduce electromagnetic interference and extend reach.
