Extreme networks 5420F-24P-4XE network switch Gigabit Ethernet PoE 24 ports
The Extreme Networks 5420F-24P-4XE is a universal hardware platform switch with 24 Gigabit Ethernet PoE ports and a switching capacity of 208 Gbit/s. It supports IEEE 802.3at (PoE+) and offers 10G uplink capability, three USB 2.0 ports and an RJ-45 console port. The 5420F-24P-4XE simplifies deployment through cloud management and flexible licensing, and includes a 1-year ExtremeCloud IQ Pilot subscription.
The 5420 platform allows changing the operating software or feature set to match different use cases, reducing vendor lock-in. It supports Ethernet Fabric services such as Fabric Connect, IP Fabric and Fabric Attach to automate connections and simplify provisioning. When running Switch Engine, the switch supports high-performance stacking via two built-in SFP-DD stacking ports, allowing up to eight systems to be stacked with qualified SFP+/SFP-DD direct attach cables or optical transceivers.
Install the 5420F-24P-4XE in a standard rack space and connect power and network cables to the Gigabit PoE ports and uplink interfaces. Use the RJ-45 console port or USB ports for initial configuration, then manage the device via ExtremeCloud IQ or local management tools. To enable Fabric Connect, IP Fabric or Fabric Attach, load the appropriate software option and configure fabric settings according to network design. For stacking, connect qualified SFP+/SFP-DD direct attach cables or optical transceivers to the built-in SFP-DD stacking ports and follow the Switch Engine stacking procedure.
Use IEEE 802.3at-compatible PoE devices to avoid exceeding budgeted PoE power; apply cloud management for centralized monitoring and keep firmware up to date to ensure optimal performance and security.
