Industrial switch EXTREME ISW-4W-4WS-4X — 12-port, 4×1Gb PoE, 4×10Gb SFP+
EXTREME ISW-4W-4WS-4X is an industrial 12-port switch designed for deployments that require reliable Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) and high-speed uplinks. The device combines four 1 Gbps PoE ports for powered endpoints with four 10 Gbps SFP+ ports for aggregation or uplink connections. Engineered for harsh environments, it supports continuous operation at network edges such as surveillance installations and automation sites where stable PoE delivery and 10Gb connectivity are needed.
The switch integrates PoE power delivery with 10Gb SFP+ uplinks in a compact industrial form factor, reducing the need for separate power injectors and additional aggregation hardware. Robust construction and vibration- and temperature-tolerant design ensure persistent operation in non‑office environments. Centralized PoE and high-speed SFP+ ports simplify topology, lowering cabling complexity while enabling bandwidth for video streams and high-throughput data transport.
Install the switch in a suitable rack, DIN-rail, or cabinet location that meets the device's environmental tolerances. Connect powered devices to the four 1 Gbps PoE ports and use twisted-pair Ethernet cabling that meets the required category for 1 Gbps operation. Aggregate traffic or connect to the core network using the 10 Gbps SFP+ ports; equip these slots with compatible SFP+ modules and fiber or DAC cables as required. Configure VLANs, link aggregation, and PoE power allocation using the switch management interface according to the network design and endpoint power requirements.
Verify total PoE budget against the combined power draw of connected endpoints before commissioning. Use appropriate SFP+ modules certified for the environment and maintain proper airflow and cable management to ensure thermal stability. For surveillance deployments, separate management and video VLANs and enable QoS to prioritize camera streams.
