FF TOM-150-5 Miniature Split-Core Current Transformer 150/5A 1.5VA
FF TOM-150-5 Miniature Split-Core Current Transformer 150/5A 1.5VA
The FF TOM-150-5 is a high-precision miniature split-core current transformer engineered for accurate current monitoring in electrical installations. Featuring a transformation ratio of 150/5A and a power rating of 1.5VA, this device provides a reliable interface for measuring electrical loads. Its split-core design is specifically developed to facilitate installation on existing wiring, eliminating the need to disconnect or interrupt the primary circuit during setup.
The primary benefit of this current transformer is its split-core construction, which significantly reduces installation time and labor costs by allowing the device to be clamped directly onto a conductor. The compact size ensures it can be integrated into crowded electrical panels or limited-space environments where traditional solid-core transformers would be difficult to mount. Furthermore, the device maintains high measurement accuracy, ensuring consistent data for energy management systems and industrial monitoring applications.
This transformer is not intended for use in high-voltage power transmission lines or environments where the primary current consistently exceeds the rated 150A capacity. It is also not suitable for outdoor installations unless housed within a protective, weather-resistant enclosure.
To install the FF TOM-150-5, open the split-core housing by releasing the locking mechanism. Place the transformer around the primary conductor that needs to be monitored and snap the core halves back together until they are securely locked. Ensure the orientation follows the manufacturer's markings for correct polarity. Connect the secondary output terminals to your measuring device, such as an ammeter or power meter, ensuring that the secondary circuit is never left open while the primary conductor is energized.
Always ensure that the secondary circuit is connected to a load or shorted before energizing the primary conductor to prevent the generation of dangerous high voltages.
