Modeling clay Staedtler FIMOair basic 8100
FIMOair basic 8100 is a terracotta-colored air-dry modeling clay supplied in a 500 g block. The formulation is soft and pliable, allowing straightforward shaping and smoothing without the need for baking. The product is shrink-wrapped to protect it from dust and drying before first use and is supplied as a single pack suitable for a wide range of modeling and craft applications.
The material is ready to use straight from the pack and cures at room temperature, eliminating the need for an oven. Its soft consistency makes it easy to sculpt details, blend surfaces and join parts. Once fully air-dried, the clay retains stable dimensional properties and can be sanded, painted or varnished to achieve different surface finishes. The 500 g format provides a larger working quantity for medium-sized projects.
Open the shrink-wrapped pack and condition the clay by kneading until it reaches an even, workable consistency. Shape the piece using hands, modeling tools or simple household implements. Attach separate parts by blending edges smoothly to ensure good adhesion. Allow pieces to air dry on a flat, dust-free surface. Drying time depends on thickness and environmental conditions; thin elements may dry within 24 hours, while thicker sections can require several days. After full drying, refine the surface with fine sandpaper and apply paint or varnish as needed.
Store unused clay in an airtight container to prevent premature drying. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid exposing the product to direct sunlight or heat sources while drying. For best results, build projects in layers and allow each layer to dry before adding additional mass to reduce cracking.
