Layer 2+ Managed PoE Switch Fortinet FS-124F-FPOE — 24x Gigabit + 4x SFP+, 24 PoE Ports (max 370W), 1U, RJ-45 Console
The Fortinet FS-124F-FPOE is a Layer 2+ managed PoE switch designed for campus and branch network deployments. It provides 24 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE support and four SFP+ uplink ports in a 1U rack-mountable chassis. The switch supports IEEE 802.3af/at PoE with a total power budget of up to 370W and includes hardware features such as an RJ-45 console port, a MAC address table capacity of 32,000 entries and a switching capacity of 128 Gbit/s. Smart fan temperature control helps maintain operating conditions while conserving energy.
The FS-124F-FPOE combines Layer 2+ management features with a substantial PoE power budget, enabling centralized power delivery to connected devices such as access points and IP phones. Its 4 SFP+ uplinks provide high-speed fiber connectivity options for aggregation or uplink to core switches. The unit’s compact 1U chassis and rack-mount form factor simplify integration into standard telecom racks, while the built-in RJ-45 console port supports local management and configuration. A MAC table sized for 32,000 entries and a 128 Gbit/s switching capacity support medium-density deployments.
Install the FS-124F-FPOE in a standard 19-inch rack using the included mounting brackets or place it on a stable surface if rack mounting is not required. Connect uplink fiber or copper to the SFP+ or Gigabit uplink ports and connect endpoint devices to the Gigabit PoE ports. Access the device for initial configuration via the RJ-45 console port or through the management interface supported by Fortinet for Layer 2+ configuration, VLANs, link aggregation and PoE settings. Monitor fan status and temperature to ensure the smart fan control functions correctly under varying load conditions.
Plan PoE power allocation in advance to avoid exceeding the 370W total budget: prioritize critical devices and calculate per-port power draws. Use the SFP+ uplinks for high-bandwidth aggregation and segment traffic with VLANs for better performance and security in campus or branch deployments.
