Hot water storage tank Galmet standing heat exchanger with spiral coil VULCAN 140 L (model 26-145500)
The Galmet VULCAN 140 L standing hot water storage tank with internal spiral coil is a compact indirect hot water cylinder intended for domestic and small commercial systems. It stores 140 litres of potable water and uses a built-in spiral heat exchanger to transfer heat from an external source—such as a boiler or solar circuit—into the storage volume. The tank supports stratified storage to maintain temperature layers and is intended for indirect domestic hot water preparation and integration with central heating or renewable heat sources.
The internal spiral coil design provides efficient heat transfer while occupying minimal space inside the vessel, enabling faster recovery of hot water temperature. The vertical standing configuration reduces floor footprint and simplifies hydraulic connections when installed near heat sources. The tank is designed for potable water use and stratified storage, which helps to deliver consistent hot water temperatures and reduces unnecessary reheating. Materials and construction are selected to meet common hygienic requirements for domestic hot water systems.
Install the VULCAN tank in a frost-free indoor location on a level, load-bearing surface and connect hydraulic lines according to the heater and plumbing manufacturer instructions. Connect the spiral heat exchanger ports to the external heat source circulation loop and connect mains cold water inlet and hot water outlet to the potable system. Commission the system by filling, venting trapped air, and gradually heating to the operating temperature while checking for leaks and correct flow through the heat exchanger. Follow local regulations and the installer’s guidance for pressure settings and safety devices.
For optimal performance, pair the tank with a compatible circulation pump sized to maintain recommended flow through the spiral coil and use appropriate control logic to avoid short cycling. Regularly inspect anode protection and fittings, maintain water quality within local standards, and schedule periodic checks of connections, insulation and temperature sensors. When integrating with solar thermal systems, include a properly sized heat exchanger loop and anti-freeze protection if required by climate.
