KVM CAT5 USB Interface Adapter cable, HP (MPN 336047B21) — RJ-45, VGA, USB
The HP KVM CAT5 USB interface adapter cable provides RJ-45, VGA and USB connectivity for compatible ProLiant blade servers and HP Server Console Switch systems. This single-pack adapter delivers a compact set of I/O ports — one RJ-45 (female) for CAT5 connection to a KVM switch, one VGA (male) for video, and one USB (male) for keyboard/mouse and USB peripheral access — enabling remote KVM switching and local console management over CAT5 cabling without installing software on target servers.
This adapter supports consolidated management of server console, video and USB peripherals using a single cable connection to KVM switches that accept CAT5 inputs. It reduces cable bulk and simplifies cable routing by using UTP CAT5 between the server and the KVM switch, and it allows field termination for custom cable lengths. The cable is designed to integrate with HP Server Console Switch and HP IP Console Switch solutions for combined local and remote management and supports tiering to scale console access across multiple servers.
Connect the VGA plug to the server video output and the USB plug to the server USB port for keyboard and mouse signals. Plug the RJ-45 connector into the corresponding CAT5 port on the HP Server Console Switch or compatible KVM switch. Route the CAT5 cable using existing UTP runs or terminate to the required length for installation. No special software is required on managed servers; the adapter transmits console, video and USB signals through the KVM infrastructure for local or remote access.
For reliable operation, use quality UTP CAT5 or better cabling and ensure secure connections at both the server and KVM switch ends. Verify compatibility with the target ProLiant BL series model and the specific HP KVM switch model before deployment. When integrating into a tiered or KVM/IP environment, follow the switch vendor’s documentation for addressing, tiering and remote console configuration.
