Transceiver module HPE 8Gb Short Wave Fibre Channel SFP+
The HPE 8Gb Short Wave Fibre Channel SFP+ transceiver module (HPE AJ718A-RFB) is a compact network transceiver designed for Fibre Channel infrastructure. It supports a maximum data transfer rate of 8000 Mbit/s and fits SFP+ interfaces. The module is supplied as a single pack and is intended for installations where reliable short-wave optical links are required. Physical dimensions are compact for rack and switch compatibility, and the unit is lightweight at approximately 0.02 kg.
This HPE SFP+ transceiver provides an 8Gb/s Fibre Channel connection with industry-standard SFP+ form factor, ensuring compatibility with a range of switches, HBAs, and SAN equipment that accept SFP+ modules. Its short-wave optical operation is suited to typical data center and server-room line distances. The module’s small size and low weight support dense port deployments and simplify installation and replacement procedures.
Install the transceiver into an empty SFP+ port on a compatible switch, HBA or storage device following the vendor’s hot-plug guidelines. Ensure the equipment is powered and that ports are enabled in the device configuration. Connect appropriate short-wave optical fiber cables and verify link status via the host device’s management interface. When replacing modules, handle the unit by the housing, avoid touching optical interfaces, and use protective caps until the fiber connection is made.
Store and operate the transceiver within the equipment manufacturer’s specified temperature and humidity ranges. Use certified optical cables and maintain clean fiber connectors to preserve signal integrity. Confirm device compatibility with HPE and third-party hardware prior to deployment and verify firmware or driver requirements on hosts and switches.
