HPE Aruba Networking 2930F 12G PoE+ 2G/2SFP+ Switch
The HPE Aruba Networking 2930F 12G PoE+ 2G/2SFP+ Switch is a managed Layer 3 access switch designed for enterprise edge, SMB and branch office networks. It provides twelve Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports with PoE+ capability, two 10GbE-capable SFP+ uplinks and two 1/10 GbE combo ports for flexible uplink options. The switch supports industry networking standards and delivers a switching capacity of 68 Gbit/s together with a MAC address table of 32,768 entries. The 1U rack-mountable, black form factor integrates with HPE Aruba management tools, offers stacking via Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) and supports Zero Touch Provisioning and cloud-based management for simplified deployment.
The switch offers managed Layer 3 functionality including RIP and Access OSPF routing, robust QoS and ACL support for traffic control and security. With PoE+ support and up to 740 W total PoE budget (dependent on model/configuration), the unit can power IP phones, wireless access points and other powered devices. Built-in uplink flexibility provides both 1 GbE and 10 GbE options for aggregation and core connectivity, while stacking capability simplifies scale and management across multiple units. No additional software licensing is required for core features.
Install the switch into a standard 19-inch 1U rack or place it on a stable shelf. Connect network devices to the Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports and use SFP+ or combo ports for uplink connections to aggregation switches or servers. Configure the switch using the web-based management interface, the HPE Aruba Management Software or cloud-based Aruba Central; Zero Touch Provisioning can be used for automated initial deployment. Enable PoE on required ports to power connected devices and configure VLANs, QoS and ACLs according to network design. For stacking, follow the Aruba VSF procedure to join multiple units and manage them as a single logical switch.
Place the switch in a ventilated rack space to ensure proper cooling, verify PoE budget against connected device power requirements, and use Aruba Central or AirWave for centralized monitoring and firmware management. When deploying stacking, ensure uniform firmware versions and consistent configuration to maintain predictable behavior and performance.
HPE Aruba Networking 2930F delivers secure, high-performance access switching optimized for modern digital workplaces. Managed L3 capabilities—OSPF, static and RIP routing, ACLs, sFlow and IPv6—are available without extra software licenses, while unified management works with ClearPass Policy Manager, AirWave and Aruba Central for consistent policy and monitoring across wired and wireless environments. Programmatic interfaces including REST APIs and OpenFlow (1.0/1.3) enable automation of provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting.
Choose from built-in 1 GbE or 10 GbE uplinks and PoE+ models to match access needs. The 2930F supports up to an 8-member Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) stack to virtualize multiple switches into a single logical device for simpler, flatter networks. Automatic optimal configuration with Aruba access points simplifies PoE priority, VLAN setup and rogue AP containment.
Powered by a ProVision ASIC, the 2930F series is tuned for low latency, increased packet buffering and adaptive power use to support demanding edge applications. Selectable queue and memory buffering configurations let you tailor forwarding behavior to your traffic patterns, and internal PoE+ capacity supports high-power deployments of APs, cameras and phones.
Build a resilient, policy-driven network with multi-level security controls including 802.1X, MAC and web authentication, RADIUS/TACACS+, SSL, port security and MAC lockout. Integrated QoS features and ACLs help ensure predictable application performance and protect data both inside and outside the network perimeter.
Streamline operations with ClearPass for unified wired/wireless policy enforcement, AirWave for on-premise device management and Aruba Central for cloud-based monitoring and Zero Touch Provisioning. Out-of-band Ethernet management, RMON and sFlow provide segmented management access and advanced visibility for statistics, history, alarms and events.
