Managed Switch HPE OfficeConnect 1950 48G 2SFP+ 2XGT PoE+
The HPE 1950 Switch Series is a family of smart web-managed Gigabit switches with 10GbE uplinks designed for small businesses that require high-performance network connections. Models are available in 24- and 48-port GbE configurations, with two standard and two PoE+ variants; each switch provides two 10GBASE-T copper ports and two 10G SFP+ fiber-capable ports for high-bandwidth uplinks. The series supports Layer 3 static routing for both IPv4 and IPv6 and includes a limited lifetime warranty covering the unit, fans and power supplies.
These switches provide high-speed 10GbE connectivity to servers, storage and other switches via 10GBASE-T or SFP+ ports, and support link aggregation for increased throughput. True stacking of up to four devices enables centralized logical management with up to 40GbE stacking bandwidth. Management options include an intuitive web interface, SNMP v1/2c/3 support, DHCP client operation for simplified deployments and NTP for synchronized logging. Security features include VLANs, ACLs, 802.1X authentication with RADIUS, SSL/HTTPS and SNMPv3 management protection. PoE+ models support optional redundant power systems to increase power availability and resilience.
Install the HPE 1950 on a rack or flat surface and connect network devices to the Gigabit ports. Use the 10GBASE-T ports with Cat6a cabling for copper 10GbE connections up to 100 meters, or insert suitable SFP/SFP+ transceivers for fiber links. For stacking, interconnect units using the 10GbE uplinks and configure stacking via the web GUI to manage multiple switches as a single logical device. Configure VLANs, ACLs and 802.1X authentication as needed; assign management IPs manually or allow the switch to obtain an address via DHCP. Use the web interface or an SNMP-based management platform for ongoing administration and monitoring.
For reliable 10GbE copper links use Category 6a cabling and tested connectors. When deploying PoE+ models with high power demands, consider the optional Redundant Power System to ensure continuous power and sufficient PoE budget for connected devices. Regularly back up configuration and keep the secondary OS image updated before performing firmware upgrades.
